Has anyone ever been put on buspar

I was just prescribed buspar, a antianxiety medication, monday. I’m predominantly using it for OCD, though. I was just wondering if you guys had experience with this drug before.

Did it work at all?

I took it for a few months. It worked okay, but I eventually got off it when my life stress died down.

It can increase your libido, so keep an eye on that. I know you’re already going through puberty as it is.

I took buspar for a little while and didn’t feel like it helped a lot.

It definitely works for some people, as my doctor says it’s pretty well prescribed,

But not for me.

Good luck with the buspar,

I hope you get some relief.

Buspar usually either works great or it doesn’t do much of anything.
There is no in between with this drug.

Good luck with it.

For anxiety. Did nothing.

If it doesn’t work I have found Sertraline useful for anxiety.

There are other options if it doesn’t work out, so try not to worry too much if you can.

New/switching meds can be a bit of a bumpy ride, but hopefully you have a decent prescriber who knows their ■■■■

It’s an alternative to benzos

Buspar increases dopamine in the prefrontal cortex :two_hearts: :two_hearts:

Don’t worry @Ninjastar any antipsychotic, risperidone, etc will zap your libido. So erotomania is not a concern here. I went through puberty a second time in the last year even though I am a man, OK.

My (idiot) Pdoc gave me buspar to use as a prn and she gave me only 10 to use per month. It did nothing for me and it’s not even approved for prn use.

That’s not universally true. I don’t have any problems with lowered libido on my medicine. Some of my meds cause increased libido.

Well you see. I had a libido on Clopixol, regular masturbation, etc. But it caused ED to a degree and shut down of reproductive system. So as a biological male it was a lot more noticeable. But that’s in the past now. Yep.

Try not to confuse your personal experiences with universal experiences. Side effects are quite individual, and depend upon each person’s own brain chemistry. There are some that are more common than others, but none are guaranteed.

Well I already know all this for a fact. I know biology. Out of the men on this forum. Most would have serious sexual dysfunction. Well I read the forum.

You give say, risperidone or Invega to a man. It will cause impotency in the great majority. I know this for a FACT. Now please leave me alone @Ninjastar. I am a busy man I can’t talk to you all day.

@Larry_F, I’m not sure what type of forums you are used to, but here we treat each other with respect. If you can’t do that you will have a rough time.

I’d also suggest giving the moderators more respect since people like @Ninjastar volunteer for the job and keep the forum a safe space for all.

If you don’t want to be perceived as a troll, you will need to work on your social skills. This isn’t the kind of forum where you can just be rude and dismissive to everyone around you.
