Guitar nail care

I have managed to grow my nails on my right hand so I can fingerpick on the guitar.

I have invested in a crystal emery board.

I have no idea about nail care. How to manage them, keep them strong etc.

Any advice from guitar pickers or the knowledgeable women folk or other out there?

I just use finger picks…long nails picking strings could be risky for me.

Yeah, I have some, but it’s like Edward Scissorhands if i play with them

So much more feeling and control for me with my actual nails.

Why is it dangerous/risky for you?

don’t want to break a nail, plus the thumb pick works much better than a nail ever could.

A nail file is good, plus you can also invest in a buffing block as well as brush-on nail strengthening treatments if your nails are a little on the flexible side.

What on earth is that?

Now I know these exist, I can do a little research on them!

Thanks

A buffing block helps shape, smooth, and ultimately strengthen nails:

And if you’re looking into strengthening treatments, the brand OPI is a decent place to start.

I trim mine because it’s gross.
