It gave me akathisia, anxiety and for me it’s just a drug.
I took this pill for almost 2 years and i am tired of not being well.
Also i want to say that i need Risperidone, i took for about 1 year and
it was so good for me.

I hate abilify for the reasons you gave. Today I feel like I’m being tortured by both the disease and the medication.
But I’m screwed, it’s the only one that worked for me. I’ll be on it 3 years next March.
It’s kept me out of hospital and stable.
I take l-theanine to combat the anxiety and restlessness. It kind of works. But yeah, I hate it too.

Maybe it works on others, but doesnt work for me, i guess it’s time for a switch with another AP

Yeah Abilify wasn’t for me either.
Is your psychiatrist on board with you going on Risperidone?

hi @Vertigo and thank you. I take medication not by my own will, i have to talk with my pdoc, and i will suggest her to give me back Risperidone, it was so helpul for me. But i have to do that next year in january

What caused you to stop taking the Risperidone when you took it the first time?

Yeah Risperidone is making me tired right now but it’s a good med.
I like it too.
It is an effective AP, it’s keeping me out of the Hospital.

My pdoc changed my meds from Risperidone to Abilify. I was gaining some weight, you know a few kg
Abilfy did give me those symptoms but it eventually went away within the first few months. I thought abilify wasn’t for me until my pdoc decided to switch it to night time. Surprisingly, I did good! Guess it’s not meant for everyone.

I tried a 28-day shot of it as an experiment with my psychiatrist, and was so paranoid by the end I couldn’t even go to the grocery store for food - I was scared out of my mind, I also felt like I was literally collapsing from the inside with stress during that time period. It was not fun. I immediately went back on haldol and its taken weeks to come back to somewhat normal!! I think Abilify was not covering my symptoms very well which explains the paranoia, I am not sure if Abilify itself would cause anxiety. I think that medicine may help other people, but it definitely did not help with my SZ.

I was on Abilify for a while. It did some good things for me. It also did some bad things to me. They had to take me off it because it got me too amp’ed up.

Well things have calmed down for me now. Maybe I was just having a bad day maybe I was between l-theanine doses. So abilify lives to fight another day. That’s the way it’s been for 3 years. I have a love hate relationship with it.

Why do i feel like i’m floating when i walk? i dont know if it’s from abilify or it’s just the fact that i am a dreamer and i fell like floating all the day. One thing is for sure, this med gave too much energy. Right now i feel the need of being sedated, that’s why i’m going to talk with my psychiatrist about risperidone.
Hi @oneway88 you can try paliperidone instead of risperidone.it has less side effects than risperidone and effective as risperidone.only problem its expensive 90$ for 6mg.

Well, i dont know how to say it but i do have a medical insurance policy, and i have discount on meds, also local discount at the pharmacy where i’m from. But thx for saying @anon68444330 I’m not from U.S i am from Europe
