Good skills in reducing my alcohol spending

I spend around £35 a time on beers from the corner shop and a takeaway pizza or kabab after I’ve drank them all. (feel pretty horrible the next day) What I’ve started doing is transferring that £35 into my other bank account instead of spenting it on beers, I hate seeing my savings go down in real time., I do this each day I fancy beers so that soon adds up sometimes too £105 a week when on a binge (but the money isn’t really spent like it usually is)

I see my depleted savings account and this makes me feel bad (like all the times I’ve drank and have big regrets) Doing this is having a good on the understanding how much money I really waste on beers and takeaways. End of the month I have a good chuck saved up. I think this is really working this way for me.

Good for you mate. Glad your working towards sobreity . But £35? bloody hell - your not on the spirits are you? lol. Mine is/was 12 quid a day on 8, 9% Polish beers

I would buy 12 (440ml) Stella cans for £15 from the corner shop plus £15 on a takeaway, such a waste of money.

I can cook but when I used to drink I didnt feel motivated. I’m making a Tuna pasta bake today from scrtach which will last 3 meals. Its very cheap meal but very satisfying. £1.09 for the sauce, £1 for tin of tuna, sweetcorn 0.30p, pasta 70p, cheese £1.50 so 3 meals for £4.50. I do like cooking.

I’m trying to keep my food costs down to £30 a week from Aldi which is more than doable. I have holidays booked for this year so want to save for these.

Nice one fella. Im not going to preach to you about drinking, cos i fall off the wagon every now and again, but yeah cut it down. Tried the 0% beers? Bit pricey - but you feel like you had a drink, and it takes the craving away x
