"All we have to do now Is take these lies and make them true somehow"
And I think that’s how I felt about life growing up. I had a naive view of what life would be or should be. I thought life would be more simple. More straight forward.
But deep down I could see it wasn’t true.
I had to reconcile these two opposites. I had to take the lies of simplicity and make them true somehow.
From what I can see that didn’t happen until I was hospitalised at 38 !
The second great line from the same song is “some mistakes were built to last”.
I wish George would have come out of the closet when he was in his 30s. I don’t know if it was his record company fearing that he would lose his female audience if he said that he was gay, or whatever, but he would have been fine, and more importantly, he would have been happy. He would have probably been more popular if he said he was gay. Instead he drank himself to death. Very sad.
