Could be a cure for some people if glia is really the problem with some of us.

Feel like there are many targets people have teased out as causes. But on the neurotransmitter side of things, which is where I think the soonest new treatments are coming out, glutamate seems to be the issue. Its likely much deeper rooted than that, but of course the easiest way will be to treat the resulting pathology or issue, going to the root may take much longer and may be very expensive. So I’m excited to see whether there will be a glutamatergic partial cure soon, something which hits the untreated domains at least a little bit with no side effects. That is something I think I can look forward to in the years to come and in my lifetime.

The gene therapy tissue regeneration angle seems like it would work if our symptoms were caused by having less brain tissue in certain regions. I’m not sure this has been proven to be the issue in every, or even a significant amount of cases. Especially early in the course of the illness, when we should ideally be treating or preventing schizophrenia.
