Football talk (nfl)

I no longer sympathize with the player about injuries. yesterday I was watching a game and a player had a bad injury, maybe even career ending.

it happens and has been happening since they’ve been playing the game.

these guys should be warned of the risks and have to deal with the consequences if they decide to play.

playing football is not very intelligent. do we really need a prohibition on the sport for it to go away? you’d think the whole thing would work itself out naturally.

As I see it helmets and pads are both the cause of and solution to the problem. I come from a rugby background with no pads. But there a lot of rules about what is allowed in a rugby tackle. Football allows a lot more dangerous forms of tackle because they allow the players ‘protection’ with pads and helmets.

But the number of injuries that result from helmet impact is unreal.

Kinda sad to say but I could imagine in 50 years time there will be a lot more regulation of tackles in the nfl to minimise these horrendous injuries.

I do have a lot of sympathy for people who dislocate their ankles and stuff like that. Most the time they are freak injuries and in the NFL those guys can get cut at any time. I wish there weren’t injuries but you should have a heart for guys who may lose a lot of money and also the pain that comes with it. If you’ve even turned an ankle it can be pretty painful.
