I hope you find a new therapist soon @Minnii
The deal with a lot of psychotherapists is that they follow a model where the patient is supposed to project his or her issues onto the therapist. The pdoc is not supposed to make an ego alliance with the patient, but instead be a passive recipient of the patientās emotions over his or her issues and problems. I was always very frustrated with this model. I donāt want to pay money to talk to a fence post. It might work for some patients, but a lot of patients fail to follow this path.
Thatās called transference and itās freudian. I donāt do freudian therapy.
I agree. I donāt like this model either.
I had bigger breakthrough in therapy getting lost in trying and trying to understand a few of the psychotherapies. I walked out on a few but got what I felt I needed in a few short sessions. Trust yourself and your instinct at least to a point. If itās time to leave itās time to leave.
Actually Iām going to wait a bit. Iāve been searching and what is available isnāt to my liking at all, my country is still very backwards in regards to psychotherapy. Iām sticking with this one, Iām getting results. Iāll talk to him of my concerns
