Hey guys. Help me brainstorm some ideas for my son’s Fallout-themed birthday party! I know very little about the game, just what I’ve picked up from watching him play it. What are some good food options? I already thought of ordering chicken wings and calling them Radroach Meat, and making Blamco mac and cheese.
I mostly need help with:
snack options
party games besides the actual video game
party favors
decorations
Gamers of the forum, share your wisdom! What will make everyone think this is the coolest kid in the universe?
I think a bottle of Nuka Cola would be ridiculously cool if they actually sell it as a product. I don’t think you want to get into cooking squirrel on a stick… but the blamco mac and cheese is a great idea, maybe you could make your own box for it. Another Fallout pre-war staple is Fancy Lad Snack Cakes. No idea what they look like though.
There are actually several parties in the vault in those games… in Fallout 3 it’s a birthday party, and in Fallout 76 it’s a party to celebrate something. But in each game they wear the customary cone-shaped party hat, and you can keep it and wear it later in the game. So having those is probably a must.
I love fallout!! A lot of the game is themed with a 50s aesthetic so dont be afraid to sprinkle some old timey charms in there. And the music is a lot of old songs too
This has links to all the soundtracks tunes should help sell the aesthetic. Or I’m sure you could find a playlist on YouTube as well!
Also I have weird ideas of a radroach pinãta but idk about that. Oooh or pin the tail on the deathclaw lol.
Oh and if you make a cake I suggest dark blue and yellow frosting and slap a vault-tec vault number on there for simplicities sake. Either that or take a lot of the Halloween themed cake decorations that are out rn and make it look like a radioactive wasteland
Yep! Those two brands are in the video games. A little about the video game… as has been mentioned Nuka bottle caps are used as currency, there is some old timey music maybe making a playlist off of the soundtrack would be a good idea, oh and in many of the video games the premise is basically that several vaults (sort of like bunkers) were created to withstand a nuclear blast. There was a nuclear war so certain people were invited to enter the vaults. The vaults usually are have numbers, for example Vault 101, Vault 98, etc. When first leaving the vault the player usually begins with a vault jumpsuit. It pretty much looks like a blue spandex costume with the number of the vault emblazoned on it in yellow. In one popular entry, the main character is instead a courier. The video games take place on a post apocalyptic world. Water is usually irradiated. Ummm… what else… in part 3 which is the one that largely popularized the series, the main objective and storyline of the game is spoiler alert to search for the protagonist’s father who was working on a way to make water portable again and ultimately you succeed in finding a way to do that. Not sure if any of that helps, but maybe you could try to immerse the kids with a sort of roleplay aspect about being in a vault or something similar. Oh and the protagonist always wears a sort of minicomputer bracelet called a pip boy. Dunno if you might be able to fashion something with that sort of aesthetic for the guests. I don’t necessarily mean an actual computer, just something they could wear around their wrists to further immerse them in the video game’s setting.
Oh and often the protagonist is gifted a BB gun. Fallout 3 in particular it is given as a birthday present to the protagonist as a child. I’m not sure what your stance is on BB guns but if you decided to gift him that (with the idea that he only use it with supervision of course, at least while he learns to respect animals and property hehe) I’m sure that would be like A Christmas Story happiness proportion level. You could always have him shoot empty bottles in the backyard. If that was brought in as a party game. The kids would probably think it was the best thing ever. That would require adult supervision and a lesson on how to safely handle a BB gun. I.e. don’t point it at anyone.
I can almost assure you it would turn into one of the best days ever for your kid. The gift of a BB gun is a special event in a boy’s life. Heck, even using a BB gun for the first time is a memorable event.
You could get him some fallout funko pops. They are on the inexpensive side, they are fun to collect, and they also make good stocking stuffers around Christmas time.
