Eye twitch?

I have developed an eye twitch in the lower lid of my right eye. It starts when I wake up and stops after my benztropine kicks in from morning meds. It comes on in the evening and once again stops when I take my meds.

What is going on? I talked to my pdoc and she said it could be a side effect or stress but wasn’t concerned. Well, no sh!t you’re not concerned, it’s not your eye!

I get twitchy eye all the freaking time.

My doctor says the same,

Stress.

It’s obnoxious, but not much cause for concern.

Sorry.

Not fun stuff.

It happens to me when I’m dehydrated or low on electrolytes. Basically a muscle spasm but in my eyelid.

It can also be a sign of TD, but I am not an expert in the difference.

Oh, ok, but it does happen? So, it’s just one more pain in the ass thing to put up with. @Ninjastar I am prone to dehydration, but I really doubt I’m dehydrated right now. I’m literally counting my water intake to make sure I’m getting enough.

What about electrolytes? That’s what gets me. When I drink too much water, my muscles freak out. I need to do a slightly diluted gatorade mix.

That, I’m not as confident about, I often have a small glass of juice, but not everyday because it worsens my reflux. I guess to be safe I should order some electrolyte packets and do a couple a day. (I ran out)
And until then I’ll make sure to get a glass of juice everyday.

I would suggest changing a most recent med. I had it, and I was annoyed. My doc apparently is just a really wonderful hard worker, because he freaking got on it!

I get eye twitches from time to time
My psychiatrist thinks it’s from too much caffeine consumption

Maybe she’s right in my case

I have TD and get a bunch of twitches and weird sensations from it. I take Cogentin for it. It’s never really progressed past that. Wouldn’t worry too much.

Happens to me sometimes. I blame stress or vitamin deficiency. There are some vitamin deficiencies known to cause this but i cant remember which ones.

I have this a lot without antipsychotics for years. It’s a kind of minor nervous tick it can occur as a mild form of catatonic excitement and disorganisation. This is often made worse by antipsychotics. It’s proof that the brain actually makes it’s own antipsychotics
The thing that works for me is my PRN diazepam and just deep breaths aka normal anxiety stuff.

It don’t make you crazy it just makes it look that way to others and that leads to more worrying and more tics

Can you expand on this?

Anxiety and disorganised symptoms combined basically. It can occur is SZ without any antipsychotics they often just make it worse. That was my experience

Yes mate caffeine is terrible for adrenaline levels and hence you get more worked up anxious and PTSD symptoms. Cutting out coffee but not tea work wonders for my nervous tics and eye twitch which happens for me without neuroleptics

The Catalonia symptoms are basically a form of truamatic dissociation. Aka Shell shock is an extreme form of PTSD where the paitients mind goes to another planet just to cope. As early trauma is the major symptom for triggering psychosis this would make sense on every level.

Who are you?

What is your diagnosis?
