That’s interesting. I’m having a hard to following because my brain is mush these days, but hopefully they’ll do more research and figure out how to best help these subgroups. Hard to say which I fall into since onset of psychosis and sz diagnosis were about 10 years apart. But I have more in common with the late onset TRS subtype. When I was first hospitalized for psychosis (was originally diagnosed PD) they put me on Abilify and it worked well for many years until I went off it. Then I went through a dozen other meds before giving up and just being unmedicated for a bit until I was hospitalized again and they put me on Haldol. Tried adding others in addition because the haldol wasn’t working well enough. Finally tried upping the dose, but even that wasn’t enough and I ended up hospitalized again because it had pretty much stopped working altogether. Been on my current med for about a year and it’s like a bomb I’m just waiting to go off and stop working like the rest of them.
I’m similar @Led Treatment resistant and in and out of hospital for years. Been on a myriad of different meds mostly to no effect.
Me too, the only thing (including clozapine) that has ever worked for positive symptoms for me was risperidone, but it only worked for a few months, a couple of times. After that, nothing except pain and metabolic syndrome from any of them. I currently take paliperidone, which fixes the cognitive symptoms but not much else…
