Ever read Bukowski?

I saw a video on YouTube about Bukowski and it interested me so I got a book of some of his short stories and I read one. He looks like I could get into him!

I think he’s mostly known for his poems.

Nice! I think “the man who can’t feel pain or pleasure” is probably my all time favorite.

This is my all time favorite poem. I find it to be incredibly moving.

Bukowski was an interesting fella - arrogant at times, bleak, but also very wise in certain respects.

He isn’t saying “give up, trying stuff isn’t worth it”. He is referencing how important it is to stay true to yourself and avoid pursuing things in life that don’t truly align with your passions, careers for example.

One neat thing is that he only really caught the poetry world’s eye later in his life. It wasn’t until his fifties, I believe, that he got recognition and respect. Gives me hope that achieving things later in life is possible.

I’ve read every book he ever wrote…very funny and easy to read. I’d start with Ham on Rye and read em in order.

He went from sleeping on L.A benches to living in Hoolywood hills.

I have read a few of his poems!

He had his issues! I think he started beating his gf while being interviewed live on camera!

A lot of those creative geniuses were real pigs in their personal lives. I heard that Picasso stubbed out a cigar on his wife’s face.
