From Brandon Staglin of IMHRO:
When I experienced my first episode of schizophrenia at age 18, my memory and attention took a severe hit–returning to college my GPA dropped a full point. Such cognitive deficits are common in schizophrenia, and present a huge challenge for recovery. However, current schizophrenia medications generally do not enhance cognition, and many may worsen it.
To address this void in treatment, Drs.Tom Weickert and Cyndi Shannon Weickert at Neuroscience Research Australia have run a clinical trial of an estrogen-modulating medication in men and women with schizophrenia. Their results have been promising: this treatment improved attention and memory in these patients. This month, this inspiring husband-and-wife team will join us for a Brain Waves Q&A, where they will answer your questions about their research.
Please join us and pose your own questions, in one of two ways:
Live via Google Hangout, at 4pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 PDT
After the live broadcast, on Brain Waves, from 5pm on June 23 PDT until 5pm on June 25 PDT
