Effects of cognitive remediation therapy versus other interventions on cognitive functioning in schizophrenia inpatients

the CCRT group improved more than the controls in negative symptoms. This result shows that providing a drill and practice cognitive remediation to inpatients does not produce benefits for cognitive functioning substantially greater than other forms of therapy provided in a ward, but it is more efficient in reduction of negative symptoms. Our results suggest that CRT might be considered as a promising intervention for reducing negative symptoms in schizophrenia individuals

Unfortunately, CRT/CBT is not readily available in my country

I’m still not convinced it really works for negative symptoms, though. How could training an aspect of cognition possibly improve emotional issues such as flat affect and anhedonia ?? It’s a mystery to me.

Hmm. Maybe they use the same brain circuits.

Well it has not worked for me. But I have learnt some things about distortions and distraction.

When I am too negative, I just stop from thinking for 50 seconds. Then completely distract myself so I move on.
breathing helps. realizing the distortions has helped me. These thought disorders are like feel good food for me, I am too attached to for example black and white thinking or magnifying small things. I guess it is very difficult to change your mindset.

One of the best things that has worked for me is every time I am feeling very negative or resentful, I browse my travel/family/happy pictures of past 2 years and it just changes my whole mood.

You have to find a secret that works for you to completely shift your mind from negativity. (something healthy )
