Eating more since quitting clozapine

I need to start watching what I eat. I feel like I’m eating more and gaining since I quit clozapine. Maybe it is because I sleep less and feel more hungry.

I was expecting the opposite. To be less hungry. But it is what it is.

Anyone had a similar experience when quitting an AP?

i lose my appetite and lose weight when i quit medicine. maybe since its a more time eating kind of thing u could try intermitant fasting. i did that forever and recently quit and its making it harder to not gain weight. so im going back to it

When I was off my AP I wasn’t eating that much.

I was too busy being manic lol.

When i quit olanzapine i was still eating alot. It took about 25 days being off of it for my appetite to change. The amount of time of these meds in system is frighteningly long. I lost about 40 lbs when i switched from olanzapine to invega but im kinda disappointed because after losing 40 in a couple months my weight has stalled and appetite increased again

That’s a good point. Maybe it takes longer for clozapine to get out of my system.

I’ve only been off for 10 days (and still take Invega).

I was sleeping 12 hours on Clozapine. So, I was awake only 12 hours. When I was on a weight-neutral medication Amisulpride, I gained more weight, I ate more on it.

I think the shortened day helps to eat less with Clozapine, but if you are off medications, you should be eating lesser than with Clozapine.
