Dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia: What research says

They had an article a while ago, saying of all the genes affecting schizophrenia, only 1-3 involved dopamine (I can’t remember), the rest involved glutamate. A much larger number. They said; dopamine can affect schizophrenia, but is not a cause, based on that research.

I wonder why psychiatrists don’t use the latest technology to analyze the mechanisms of action of antipsychotics.
For example, they can compare which brain areas are affected by muscarinic antipsychotics with the areas affected by agonist and antagonist antipsychotics. Then they look at the “heat” map, the brain areas that each class of antipsychotics has in common, and so they test different antipsychotics. I don’t know if I explained myself well, I used Google Translate.
