Does self-help ... help? The problem with pop psychology

I’ve been trying to get away from the articles online for years. Although, I’m not what one would call a hardcore “junkie” because I’ve hardly bought any of the books my whole life.

I’ve never read a self help book, but I have read articles online and taken an online course in CBT. I also did the self help program “Attacking Anxiety and Depression” which is basically an applied CBT course. I found it all helpful, both in understanding my thoughts and why I think them, but also to change them. I also feel better when I know more about a subject and understand it better.

I’ve read lots of self help books. Some of them have really helped me.
