Does anyone suffer from hair thinning?

My hair is thinning whilst being on abilify. Is anyone experiencing hair thinning and what medications are you on that could be causing this?
I would like to know because there is a chance that I will need to go on a new AP later this year and want to be prepared to go on one that doesn’t cause hair thinning (if possible).

yes, I feel better thank you. I started working again.
I have often been sick now. I do not think they extend my contract. But I do find another job.
I still have to search.

Thats horrible. But at least you are better for now. What do you think of retail? Oh and whcih medication are you on so I can avoid it- I dont want to go bald @stefan24

I think the products you can buy to keep your hair growth good do not work.

What you could do, of course, is a well-balanced diet plan. With sports. I think that might help

When I first started on Abilify my hair was coming out in handfuls, it also turned really dry. Fortunately I have very thick curly long hair and it was not noticeable to others. I mentioned it to my Doctor and Psychiatrist (I even took a pile of hair in to show them) and they both dismissed it as it was not listed as a side effect of Abilify. It no longer comes out in handfuls, but I still lose a lot of hair. I know how upsetting hair loss is so I hope you find a solution.

I have had problems with my hair thinning, but I think it is because of my hypothyroidism. It isn’t really noticeable because my hair is curly.

Thanks, they dismissed it too with me (I’m on Abilify aswell) until I showed them the side effect listed as one of the many in the prescription box…if you look through all the side effects it should be there. I dislike it enough to change meds for it. Maybe the body will adjust with time for you and it will stop falling out if it’s already decreased, I’m just too impatient to wait for that lol.

Anything you consume, meaning food and/or drugs, that restricts the blood flow to the scalp will contribute to hair thinning and loss.

I’ve had hair that sheds, when I’m under a lot of stress, and that grows back, when I’m not under stress, my entire life, since I was in my 20’s. It just got worse when I was peri menopausal. The thinning was so bad then that I had to cut my long hair short, very short. All my hairdressers say that I have very thick hair. But I don’t believe them. I remember how thick it was when I was a younger woman.

I use 2% Rogaine on my head everyday, twice a day. That seems to help. I’ve been using it for many years. I have no bald spots anyway.

I have hypothyroidism too. That could be a reason for my thinning hair.

I think we all do.
