Earlier this year I had cut back my toenails and went too short trying to get rid of ingrown nails and ended up with infections in both toes. It was very painful and I couldn’t get to the infection with hydrogen peroxide and triple-antibiotic ointment and wound up at the doctor’s office and he gave me anti-biotics and told me he wanted me to have the foot doctor do my nails from now on. Well I cancelled the appointment because my nails didn’t need to be cut yet. They grow very slowly. But now they need cut. Should I just trim them a little and be careful or wait and make an appointment with the Podiatrist. I think the Podiatrist is busy with needier patients than me. I don’t really need a Podiatrist do I?
15 minutes and they can remove them, and stop the nail section from growing again.
You’d be highly numbed up, a quick snip, and a swab of chemical to stop growth.
A good doc would be more than willing to help you out. It’s much safer than risking infection.
Foot health is important, I’ve seen too many feet removed.
Oh God, you’re scaring me. Just because of my nails???
Oh my, I apologize. I didn’t mean to scare you.
But yes, untreated infections can be dangerous.
So I should go? I don’t have an infection now. That was awhile ago. I just need them cut, but the regular doctor didn’t like the job I was doing, They are hard to cut.
I would go. Does it start to hurt when they grow and you walk?
In sandals no, but in walking shoes yes. The big toes hurt. That’s why I cut them so short. But that’s what gave me the infection last time. I’m not doing that again. It was awful.
Yeah. Sorry you have to deal with that. Even if you don’t have any procedures at least a consultation might be a good idea.
They’ll take care of you.
The doctor said they cut your nails, is that the case?
They can, and they do a great job.
They’re sterile, mostly nice. It would be quick.
You should see the podiatrist. They can help you and lots of people get their toe nails done by the podiatrist
If it’s free I would go. I trim my own nails but a couple years ago my feet were swelling up every day so I went to a podiatrist. I went to my podiatrist and my dermatologist for my athletes foot. Believe it or not I had a case of athletes foot for three years.
Oh I believe it, that stuff goes deep in there and it can be tricky to get to it.
They gave me some cream to put on it twice a day but I couldn’t stick to the regimen so they gave me pills to take for a month and those cleared it right up.
They have pills for it? That’s great.
