Has a bunch of books in his or her office which they probably have never even read?!..like decoration o doc im not feeling well?? Hmmm antipschotics for you!! …reminds me of lionel hutz the from the simpsons…“these books do not just make the office look good, theyre full of legal tid bits!. Hoe bout that??!” Haha judt kidding! Think about it though…my doctor had all kinds of books i was soo impressed. And then it occured to me that theyre just for decoration. Well its okay… happy sunday everyone. Feel better!

Paperback and hardcover books are a thing of the past. Most newly graduated psychiatrists use a laptop or workstation at work.
My psychiatrist has lend me a book about psychosis from her collection. I read it and gave it back. Some people actually read books.

Our clinic just has rooms that doctors can book. Not even my old pdoc who was quite senior had his own office!

Psychiatrist are smart…theyre no dummies…i am not totally convinced either way although im sure some psychiatrist have alot of interesting books for decoration.
Our psychiatrists here have plain rooms. It’d be nice if there was some decoration, to be fair, other than the ominous tissue box!
Not to mention they receive a highly generous income for what they do. A PhD or M.D. is a very difficult educational achievement.

Yes they are paid well! Im not white colllar i could be but i tease the 1 percent and have ambitions that are erratic and flip flop. One minute i want to be the greatest mail carrier of all zhe time the next i think hmmma 34 year old who doesnt exercise often could become the home run champion before i die. I could be an fbi agent…or a dlllluuuhhhh lawyer. Haha all good! Keep dreaming everyone. I truly wish the biggest success and peace to all of you…get better please…one life!

Lots of people have books as decoration.
I’m looking at a bookshelf of impressive classics that I’ve never read right now, in my house.
I feel from the other comments on your thread that you are a little jealous of their success.

I agree, we schizophrenics are categorized as the underclass below lower class in the social economic class status. Keep on dreaming on all those types of employment you could be doing as you (if you decide to work) will only get hired jobs where employers need job vacancies to be filled. I bought technical books that I did not read fully a lot. Then 1 day I went to the university canteen where they have shelves where you could give away and take away free books and put my full bag of books in there. Just a couple of days later I looked again and all my books were gone. Some were expensive and I still remember what most of them were called.
By the way modern schizophrenia understanding is not as it used to be before antipsychotics. I could imagine reading something a 100 years old about schizophrenia when they did not give antipsychotics.
edit: what happened to the patients? how long do they stay like this? etc.
Well im not jealous but i might be wrong…well its interesting…i was joking…but…well yes…i like your new name by the way…i thought it was funny the connectuon with the simpsons and everything…youve also been looking great i noticed…you look like youve been exefcising or the meds out of your system…either way that is my goal well one of …get fit would be my advice to everyone on here. Also understand that i am not your enemy and i am nobodys enemy…we as recovered or recovering schizophrenics have a mandatory obligation to help people who have dealt with similar situations. No?

I don’t have enough room to keep books for decoration. All of the ones I own physical copies of are cherished (like my complete collection of Nero Wolfe novels). Most of my books live on a tablet now.
If someone has helped you in a time of need then you have an obligation to pay it forward to the next person in need, SZ or no.
