Maybe it’s for the best?

Seeing a doctor face to face will likely yield better results for recovery.

that’s what i’m hoping for. problem is I don’t see the doctor until august 30th.

Well, if you do need help in the meantime, there’s always the hospital as a backup. In New York, the law says a psychiatrist must give you an appointment no more than one week after being discharged from a psychiatric hospital. Not sure if it’s a universal law, but it might be.

@cbbrown

do they have a mental health clinic in your area or a NAMI support office? Nami will get you with someone right away.

That is what I hate about pdocs! It is the one medical area where they control your life and when they quit seeing you at will - they are putting your life in jeopardy. pdocs should be required to make sure you are seeing another pdoc or help you taper off meds before ‘terminating’ their service. They need to be held liable. pysch meds are hell to come off of and for a doc to just do that should be criminal.

Sorry for the rant. This is just a hot topic for me. I already live in fear and paranoia of people and everything basically so when my pdoc says he won’t see me anymore I feel helpless, isolated, scared and where do you turn? sorry ranting again.

Please call NAMI even if no local office the national line =they will help!

I am going to start going to see my old psychiatrist again that I saw in another town. he was alright. a little rude but still good but he isn’t free until august 30th

Geez that’s a long time

And I thought my pdoc was a busy man…

the nurse told me he wants to do testing on me and ask me some questions. to see if I have improved or gotten worse.

Yeah . . . That’s how I feel sometimes.

is it ever worse at night for you? my partner works from 10pm-6am sometimes and i’m alone a lot and the paranoia and voices get more aggressive.

@cbbrown
yes nights have always been the worse for all my symptoms. I developed insomnia from it because I was always scared to sleep. It gets really bad at night especially if I am alone.

ever since I got my latuda lowered by the last pdoc, I’ve noticed I have had problems sleeping so I started taking my Ativan at night, but i’m worried about becoming addicted like brother in law was/

Ativan addiction is a real thing . . .

@cbbrown

Have you asked your pdoc about the ativan? Was it prescribed for anxiety or to control potential eps?

Addiction is another topic altogether. We can’t control the chemical addiction only physical.

its for anxiety, I only take .5 mgs a day. I don’t take it every day sometimes I go days without it. i’m still worried about taking it

@cbbrown
if you can go days without it, I don’t think you would have a chemical addiction to it. But the mental/physical is on you. I am not a physically addictive type personality. I am to much of a control freak myself. I am also drug resistant so even my pysch meds have always exceeded max dosing just to get some effect.

You seen your brother addicted to it - was his chemical, mental or a combo addiction?
You are aware and that is half the battle. Just monitor how you feel each day and only take it when you need to, but talk to your pdoc about it all as soon as you can.

my brother in law was chemically and mentally addicted to it. He had to go to rehab twice the first time he was only clean for a few months.
