If you do watch these documentaries, do they empower you or do they trigger your symptoms?
Trigger my symptoms.
I did but I had to stop myself. They aren’t typically about people that are high functioning and it was just putting me in a bad mood. Not to say that people need to be high functioning. I was just looking for hope and not finding it.
I used to watch them, then they started getting boring.
I find schizophrenia documentaries rather fascinating, and sort of comforting in a weird way.
They rarely trigger my delusions or symptoms.
I suppose I find them comforting because it’s rather interesting to see other people who struggle with similar issues as mine.
Sometimes though they can be fairly heartbreaking. Like if they show people who are homeless because of their schizophrenia/symptoms.
I think I have watched everything about schizophrenia, and invariably I’ll be triggered or I’ll feel empowered. Sometimes we are just vulnerable.
I agree, it is heartbreaking. There is a movie called “Out of Darkness” about a woman with schizophrenia and it really crushed me.
