Do you think that your TV spies you

Today in news I read a headline that there are people who believe that their TV spies them. They may have these sophisticated Internet connected TVs. Maybe in today’s technology it is possible. My TV is a simple one and it probably does not spy me. What do you think?

Some computers & phones actually do if they have a camera or web cam. Lots of people put a piece of tape over the camera hole when not using it. This is a common practice and not just Sz people doing this. It’s been reported the camera or video device can operate even if you aren’t aware of it.
A TV would have to have the technology installed for it to spy. I have not heard yet of anyone finding such technology inside a TV. But you may be right about newer TVs that are internet capable and might have features that would allow such a thing.

Ok, just looked it up and now I have heard of it…seems there are some that can… You are right, some of the newer ones. This Samsung even tells you it does it, so be careful what you say

Samsung is warning customers about discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.
The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature…
The policy explains that the TV set will be listening to people in the same room to try to spot when commands or queries are issued via the remote. It goes on to say: “If your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party.”

Samsung is having a problem with it’s voice recognition feature… it doesn’t know when to turn off… so anything you say is collected by a third party.

Samsung is trying to fix the problem… but the backlash has started.

I didn’t use to think my T.V. spied on me as much as it was trying to control people’s minds and insert upsetting thoughts. I got rid of my T.V. completely.

i used too think, that the tv wasnt a one way linear device.
but that people “mostly newsreaders” interacted with me.
and i thought they could see me and reacted on my body movements and
facial expressions.

nowadays i dont believe in this anymore.
however just too be sure i taped off the front face camera on my laptop and tablet.
and too my suprise sometimes my laptop starts the video software on itself, and shows
a black video window “since i taped it off”.

So it could be, just not my tv ithink
