Do you like marmite or vegemite?

Marmite is a yeast extracted salty spread that you put on anything you like. So question is. Do you like it?

In terms of taste it is amazing on buttered white toast with sliced cheese…

Edit I’m talking about marmite

I have spoke to many Australians who say vegemite is way better than marmite

I’ve tried both.

Marmite is yummy in small doses.

Vegemite is absolutely disgusting.

Never had vegimite - but i use the shop brand version of yeast extract, its about a quid cheaper than marmite.

I grew up as a kid in New Zealand and was raised on Marmite. I have to admit though that since moving to Australia many years ago I am now a huge fan of Vegemite and have not touched Marmite since. Vegemite Scrolls are to die for - a savoury version of Cinnamon scrolls (a twirly scone).

Vegemite for sure. Don’t like marmite.

I haven’t tried either. Sort of parked on the wrong side of the earth so it’s hard to find.

Marmite has a very strong, peculiar taste. They say you either love it or hate it, @ThePickinSkunk.

Well if I ever get east of the Greenwich line I will try it.

I’ve never tasted it. I’ve seen marmite in the store but it’s overpriced. I think I would like it for some reason.

I’ve never tried either.

Do you come from a land down under?

Vegemite FTW. If you haven’t had it before and are going to try it, use it sparingly.

Toast with margarine and a little vegemite.
Sandwich with margarine, vegemite and cheese.
If you are feeling really upmarket, crackers with vegemite, caviar, cheese and a cocktail onion.

Never liked marmite. Just didn’t take. Vegemite we give to babies over here. You grow up on it. Great stuff. Very salty and it’s not appealing looking but heaps of b group vitamins. It’s not that bad besides the salt I suppose.

Why is this stuff only popular with Aussies?

@agent101g . I took some into my work in Barnes and Noble in New Orleans. Most americans didn’t touch it but this Scandinavian guy ate the small bottle. He loved it so I suspect it’s not too bad over in England…It’s salty as heck but it has this unique taste. It’s great on toast. As I say. In Oz we feed our babies on it when you start to eat. Just one of the things you do!
