I consider depression and anxiety to be part of schizophrenia. It’s just one big mess but encapsulates all of those things.
My pdoc has always assumed I have depression and anxiety. She asks me to rate it every time I talk to her.
Edit: it certainly seems like it’s part of Sz.
They rate my depression and anxiety at every visit but I only have one diagnosis. I take 450 mg of Wellbutrin every day and Xanax.
But in the course of my mental health treatment I have been diagnosed with everything under the sun at one time or another.
Depression anxiety and autism
Social anxiety mostly.
Had one CPN suggest I may be Sza with obsessive features. Idk.
Anxiety apart from the sza is a major killer for me though. I remember when I was working my nights would be spent being nervous as heck for the next work day and the million jerks that would come my way in the course of my job.
I have anxiety. I can’t even sit and eat lunch in public without feeling like I’m sitting on a ride to hell.
Forreals, I also feel the same and it sucks big time.
Got diagnosed with ADD back in high school. Was prescribed Concerta, Strattera, and finally Adderall XR. Stopped picking up my prescription during Freshman year of college and haven’t mentioned it since.
At 22, saw a prescriber who wrote me scripts for Celexa at first, and ultimately Lithium (which I refused to take). Think she thought I also had some OCD-type stuff going on, which is probable, but I actually happened to be going through the prodromal phase (unbeknownst to everyone at the time).
On my doctor’s chart I have a diagnosis of Schizophreniforn— hasn’t been updated in a while.
Current psychiatric diagnosis (as far as I’ve been told) is Schizoaffective-Bipolar type.
I am diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia but I suspect austism. I scored in the empathy quotient, which is used to diagnose autism, 18 points, being the normal score 42/47. I don’t know since the schizophrenia and autism overlap but I have many autistic features. I need to talk with a psychologist.
Yeah, stay away from stimulants! Those are dangerous to us.
Are you sure you have a mood disorder? You seem very level- headed.
I mean my cousin got diagnosed adhd, then bipolar and later on borderline. Which is all BS because she only suffers from an anxiety disorder.
My point is docs give different diagnosis so they can prescribe meds. I think some docs just don’t give a F anymore and rely on drugs. What happened to therapy??
I wish I could get therapy and have someone to talk to. Perhaps try CBT for my anxiety. But it’s expensive here, if you pay from your own pocket.
Defos— as much as I do think Adderall XR would benefit me, both attention and productivity-wise, I don’t really wanna poke the bear so to speak .
That is honestly a very nice thing to say, thank you . Truth be told, I believe I have a one-way ticket on the Hot Mess Express, haha.
Sorry to hear about all the rigamarole your cousin’s been put through. Psychiatry and diagnosis seem to be very precise arts, and a lot of professionals either get it wrong or hand out diagnoses like hot cakes.
As far as prescribing meds, I wouldn’t be surprised if some pdocs get kick-backs from pharmaceutical reps— and I’m not just talking about a Seroquel-branded pen or a Zyprexa mug, either. Perhaps their mindset is also one of, “well if it doesn’t work, fuuck it, we’ll go onto the next ‘til we hit Clozapine.” There seems to be some disconnect among pdocs between the damaging side effects and the benefits of a drug, and honestly, at the end of the day, they really don’t lose much sleep if you or I develop diabetes or start lactating out of nowhere. There’s not much to show for accountability in the realm of psychiatric medication, unless a large amount of folks start speaking up and file a giant-ass lawsuit.
I really hope you’re able to get therapy sometime soon, whether it’s just to have a trained ear to vent to, or receive help with CBT concepts.
CBT is fantastic, IMO— but if you’re still deep down the rabbit hole it can be difficult to apply the concepts to real-time situations.
I believe @Headspark, @LevelJ1, and @shutterbug all have had positive experiences with CBT.
Best of luck to you in your therapy/CBT search @Speedy, and hope it works out for you soon .
Thank you! And good luck with the meds!
Some doctors think i am bipolar, but a team of 5 psychiatrists diagnosed me sz in 5 min… I couldn’t even speak intermediate English back than.
Yes I did! CBT is excellent stuff! 1 CBT home program. 1 CBT practitioner course, and outpatient program at the hospital.
That’s true, and the accountability is still minimal. I was part of this class action lawsuit in Canada. We won but I’d gladly give up the little money I got it it meant I didn’t have diabetes anymore.
SZA, generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD
I’m schizophrenic with a bit of OCD…also can’t stand eating in public for some reason.
I like order all around me, and quite often touch things twice…flick the light switch twice…etc.
I have my sz with a side of tourettes. It can be pretty nasty, but mostly just happens when by myself.
Anxiety disorder, major depression and they suspect I have autism as well
Sorry to hear, Jake. Depression along side social phobia and schz is really tough. I have ocd and schz together, it sucks because they can intertwine and cause a lot of mental pain,
Hello @Mars welcome!
I have anxiety and depression
sz paranoid, major depressive, generalized anxiety & ptsd.
