Yeah we should get representation in the UN or something
interesting!
I donāt think this would work as Iāve noticed political incompatibilities between many of those with higher function and those with lower function.
nuts: people pooled to make things work.
NAMI is not on our side. Their movement is not for us. It is for family members of us and mainly about controlling us and medicating us.
Whatās on our side sometimes are what they call āpeersā, but not always. But sometimes they can be helpful because they also have schizophrenia and they are more sympathetic.
peers work for the ins companyās
Iām only offended when they use it wrong.
Like āomg Iām so crazy hahaā
or when they mistake psycopath for psychotic, or the other way around.
You can be batshit crazy without having SZ. Once dated a lady who would take the few $$$ she had left and play BINGO in the hopes of winning enough grocery money to feed her family. Of course, she would probably have been in better shape without buying smokes and playing BINGO. (She also wasnāt the brightest - felt so badly for her kids.)
It just seems like especially young women like calling themselves crazy. Itās like in the earlier 00ās when girls would say āIām so hyper I think I have adhd hahaā
Itās like thereās a prestige in being crazy without actually having anything wrong with you.
If I see āIām kinda crazyā on someoneās profile, I swipe left, to put it that way.
There is prestige in being a victim these days as well.
True. Donāt get me started on the idiocy of the MeToo movement and its consequences.
I think in America there should be better socio-political representation of schizophrenics.
I canāt speak for other countries, because idk what itās like having sz in another country.
As for the schizophrenics themselves forming a movement I think there would be a lot of in-fighting in it, unfortunately.
The psychiatrist, R.D. Laing tried these homes for schizophrenics that were run by szās during the 60ās (?) I think it was the 60ās.
Anyways they were largely unsuccessful.
Sorry, @Montezuma. System auto-flagged you for a second. If you got an automated message, feel free to ignore it.
Thereās a girl who is starting a movement for schizophrenia acceptance and awareness, if anyone is interested. Her video made the rounds here a while back.
I would support a movement that has goals of informing and reducing stigma.
I think the nature of our illness makes it hard to get everyone on the same page with things, people getting paranoid about intentions is sadly something that happens very often.
