Ive heard everything from time is real and linear to time is real and not linear to time is just an illusion made by humans and i wanted to know what u all thought. Honestly for me it feels pretty real since im stuck here on this planet for a certain amount of well time and its a measurement of life and the motion of matter but everyone thinks differently. And if u don’t believe in time y don’t know. Y isn’t time real?
Seems very real to me. Things have happened to me during my 57 years on the earth. I’ve aged. In that sense life is “like an hour glass glued to a table”, as Anna Nalick says in her song. But the span of my puny life means very little in the scale of the cosmos. When you measure time as the motion of matter and look at it in the scale of the cosmos, it opens up new possibilities of thought on the subject. I guess I’m saying I don’t know. I’m sure smarter people than me disagree on it.
On the scale of the cosmos, time changes. Time is very linear, trackable, and has clear evidence here, but outside of where we are, time changes in space. Time is a physical phenomenon that has been created. It is finite and has a beginning, and it will have an end. Our universe is only so big, and outside of our universe their is no time. Time is like a place to anyone outside of time.
I think our present physical bodies would be destroyed if we left time. Interesting note, the Bible says that no one will cease to exist, and that we will all eventually live outside of time.
It’s interesting that some things that are in the Bible have been discovered by science. A universe from nothing is a good example. Although that dinosaurs and humans lived together is still silly.
Did you know that time is relative based on age? The older, and more time you’ve experienced that faster it seems to go, as opposed to when you’re young, time seems slower. Think about if you lived for a million years. Now on that time scale even a thousand years is fairly minimal in your experiences by the end. If you had a friend or significant other for a thousand years, after 500,000 years it would seem almost like an instances in your life.
I want a ‘neither’ option! No, seriously, I am inclined to think the question doesn’t really have an answer… I think, as a dimension, time is a precondition for things to be said to exist or be real, as such, these predicates do not apply to time itself.
Not real i believe its a combination of gravity and light. If i were to go any deeper into the subject it would be ridiculously long…so what we call time is the combined effects of gravity and pure energy.
Time can be manipulated to disrupt a person’s schedule, my iPhone had the date and time wrong- for the entire day!
It was 3 days early, and we “missed” a Dr’s appointment 2hours away, drove there only to find it wasn’t there, but 3 days later, the real date, it reappeared and we missed it.
Referencing dimension is an excellent point considering it contradicts time being a precondition for things to be said to exist or be real. What we can see an touch is only in our three dimensions and in our space of time, but we already know there are dimensions outside of our space and time that are not limited by our space and time.
We humans will never understand what’s outside of human perception. Like flies, than can see at 50 frames per second, as we can see at 25, so time appears slower to them. It’s all relative.
If it exists or not it can only be measured by our human perspective and in that sense, I think it exists.
We are running out of time. I know this because Mrs Pixel tells me so whenever we have to go somewhere. I’m not sure what happens when we run out completely, but I’m guessing it won’t be a good thing.
