Do they take people off meds with a sz dx?

Sorry for the noob question. But what is my pdoc suspected to do with me since I have not had positive symptoms in 2 years and I don’t have negatives anymore?

I have been voice free for about 5 years also.

My pharmacy screwed up my meds for 2 weeks and I started feeling unwell. Apart from that no.

oh…that’s tough decisions then…

just if he gives you thes yes for coming off, go back on asap if u relapse…like first warning signs…and keep in regular contact with some1 who knows you well

I don’t trust my pdoc though, he has never been any good.

How long have you been better from negatives? How long did you have them for? Did they get better slowly or quickly?

why is that? what makes him no good

Slowly. Very slowly. I started challenging my delusions, and after that, slowly after years my negatives got better.

How many years?

Well basically every time I meet him, he quickly asks me about my negatives and sends me out the door as quickly as possible.

I got over my 90% of my positives 5 years ago, and my negatives dissipated after that.

How many years did you have negatives for?

They gradually faded away over the 5 years I was not having positives.

Oh cool gfffggfff

Did they come and go in cycles first? Because mine have gone away and come back a few times.

No, I feel I learnt about voices not being real and paranoia being more my opinions than reality the hard way. After learning my lesson the hard way, I could never go back.

Generally sz means meds for life. If you are symptom free it doesn’t mean you are cured and your illness magically went away it means meds are managing your symptoms.

The only time I’ve seen where it’s been an ok idea to try to go off meds is if the person has only had a single episode of psychosis. If you have had ongoing symptoms or more than one episode there is almost no chance you will not relapse once off meds.

I stopped meds with the help of my psychiatrist and it was a disaster, nearly killed my brother and myself.

After four or five years of sza I went off meds with help of my pdoc as I was in remission

Only lasted five years then relapsed

Been on meds for last eight years and couldn’t come off them again as much as I tried. Once I lasted a few months but then heard voices and thoughts were weird and fragmented.

It seems like meds for life for me.
