Do better communication skills promote sheltered employment in schizophrenia?

Alongside various psychopathological symptoms and neurocognitive dysfunctions, communication skill impairments may be considered core feature of schizophrenia.

Although many studies examined the relation between employment status and neurocognition in schizophrenia, we still know very little about the role of communication skills in vocational status among people with schizophrenia.

The purpose of this study is to identify the most characteristic communication, neurocognitive and social cognition differences which separate the employed schizophrenia outpatients from those who do not work.

In conclusion, the present study indicates that employment in schizophrenia is associated with better symptomatic remission and communication skills, but not with better neurocognition and social cognition.

I am not sure what they mean by communication skills within this context. I have never worked, for 30 of those years I had a schizophrenia or schizoaffective diagnosis. I am fairly articulate and therefore I presume, for the most part,a reasonable communicator.
The exception to this is when agitated, angry and frightened when I have difficulty explaining myself clearly.
My own view is that if you just want people with psychosis/schizophrenia employed at a basic, low wage level then neurocognitive deficits will be less important.
However I fail to see that still applying the higher up the skills ladder for a job you go. I think then the effects of cognitive deficits will very much come into play re ability to do a job.

i would normally share it but it is a website for voluntary charities here in Scotland, they post jobs that people like me may be able to fill, i haven’t checked it out yet but i am hoping to see a few opportunities on there,

the market is quite vibrant just now he said and positions get filled quite fast, i will be working on my interview skills with my job specialist after he has my cv filled out.

i can share one site that may be of benefit to people here in Scotland its here https://www.myworldofwork.co.uk/ its only really for my area i think but people may find some help in it.
