I’m waiting for an important phone call, and I’m nervous. Someone distract me, please. Memes, terrible jokes, stories about your day, recipes. Anything. Just get my mind occupied, because there’s nothing left in my house to obsessively clean.
Is it a medical issue? Waiting for my mom to come home. Cats are well. Learning to ignore people.
No, it’s a call for foster care. Just waiting to hear the news that we have a kid!
Heya. Long time, no chat.
I’m thinking about applying to my state university’s film program.
I figure might as well study something I want to do.
I really want to be a better screenwriter.
Well today I brought my mum into the eye doctor to get her cataracts looked at and when she came out she looked like she was on drugs because they put drops in which made her pupils huge. She got on ok though and I also had my sister with me (who has Down syndrome) watching the woman’s World Cup now when I should be outside working, it’s 22c here
Do you want to hear a cat joke?
Just “kitten”
I have a degree in film and philosophy. Let me tell you, nobody in the film industry cares about degrees. It’s all about connections. If you want to break into film, you need to know someone, and you need to move to either NYC or LA. And you need to be able to work 16-18 hour days.
The only stable local jobs in the film industry are in local news. If you want to do that, you will be good. Otherwise, just start applying to jobs, and take online tutorials to learn different editing software.
When I need a distraction,
I watch Brad Neely Comics.
They’re not for everyone, but you might think they’re funny.
Well I think the good thing about getting a film degree is I can at least maybe go into teaching filmmaking/screenwriting one day.
I need to have at least a BA and a little experience to do that.
A teaching certification would be more useful than a film degree for that. Maybe you can go into teaching, and join a local theater group to get experience with lighting and sound.
Wow there is a lot to unpack there. Thanks, they’re very distracting!
Freaking cute!
I don’t mean to be down on you about your dream. I just know that, if I hadn’t had a full scholarship, I would be furious over the amount of debt I put myself into. I don’t think it’s a good idea to go to college for dreams. I think it’s a good idea to go to college/trade school for something employable, and then pursue your dreams as a hobby.
