we donāt have children so I feel really bad for youā¦yes I donāt have it as bad as you I knowā¦but we are very poor. @anon4362788
Iām not interested in a Poor Off.
I could probably stand to go hungry more often.
Well Iām grateful that I have something now. I know there are people worse off than me.
Many years ago, I went hungry for about three months. I kept losing weight until I was quite thin.
During that time, I walked into the Food Stamps Office, and they laughed me out of there.
Eventually I got family support.
Thanks @Jayster. Iām losing weight right now. Hopefully things will get better.
I heard what a friend gets in food stamps, and I donāt know how he manages. Heās a client at my psych clinic.
In my community, lots of ways to get free food exist.
I am always hungry. Sometimes I forget to eat, I become dizzy and weak.
I think my blood sugar goes too low. My Dr told me to eat more often. Thats why I canāt do diets. He thinks I have prediabetes.
I know. They have a food bank at my psych clinic. Iāve been trying to avoid using it for those that donāt have anything to eat. I might have to start using it though. They feed you lunch and breakfast at the clinic. I canāt eat the cereal and milk because Iām lactose intolerant, but the also serve Ramen noodles for breakfast. The lunches I can eat though.
Iāve been very hungry losing weight for wrestling. Another time I was living on the street in Jackson, Tennessee, and I was working out and not eating much. Then I got put in jail for ācarrying a concealed dangerous weaponā. They kept me there ninety days with no trial. Iāve seen guys far more likely to actually use their knives walk away free after the cops stopped them. I went on a seven hunger strike in jail. I would have stayed on it longer, but I felt like I was getting to the point where my body would seriously weaken if I stayed on the hunger strike longer, and I thought I was going to have to go back on the street after I got out of jail, and I didnāt want to have to do that in a weakened condition. They took me from that jail to the mental hospital, though. But I honestly think I was hungrier losing weight for wrestling my sophmore year in high school. I fantasized about food constantly. When I walked through a grocery store I would go through so many fantasies about the food that was on the shelves. Actually, dehydrating to make weight weakened me more that cutting calories. If I had to dehydrate more than seven or eight pounds, something just left me, and I couldnāt perform on the mat.
When I lived with my sister and in the ninth grade( for the first time )we were very poor and I got down to 100 lbs or less. The shame of it is I had a job weekends and an income I could have bought food with but spent it all on drugs drugs drugs.
Tulsa, Oklahoma is like that. Every time you turn around someone is handing you a sandwich. Tulsa could be like Shangri La, except for the violent mentality of the people living on the street.
I forgot to eat when I was psychotic.
@anon4362788 I apologize, I didnāt mean to come off like thatā¦honestly I didnāt know you didnāt have resources like I do.
I canāt remember how long ago⦠maybe like 9 months ago⦠I hadnāt been working for a few months and we were just barely scrapping by with Hubbyās income from work.
We didnāt have anything to eat, at one point. But, thankfully, a food pantry gave us some food!!
And then, right after this, Hubby got a significant pay raise!! So, weāve been doing better since he got that raise.
I was really thankful for that food pantry, though. They helped us when we werenāt able to afford groceries.
