I could probably stand to go hungry more often.

Well I’m grateful that I have something now. I know there are people worse off than me.

Many years ago, I went hungry for about three months. I kept losing weight until I was quite thin.

During that time, I walked into the Food Stamps Office, and they laughed me out of there.

Eventually I got family support.

I heard what a friend gets in food stamps, and I don’t know how he manages. He’s a client at my psych clinic.

In my community, lots of ways to get free food exist.

I think my blood sugar goes too low. My Dr told me to eat more often. Thats why I can’t do diets. He thinks I have prediabetes.

I know. They have a food bank at my psych clinic. I’ve been trying to avoid using it for those that don’t have anything to eat. I might have to start using it though. They feed you lunch and breakfast at the clinic. I can’t eat the cereal and milk because I’m lactose intolerant, but the also serve Ramen noodles for breakfast. The lunches I can eat though.

I’ve been very hungry losing weight for wrestling. Another time I was living on the street in Jackson, Tennessee, and I was working out and not eating much. Then I got put in jail for ā€œcarrying a concealed dangerous weaponā€. They kept me there ninety days with no trial. I’ve seen guys far more likely to actually use their knives walk away free after the cops stopped them. I went on a seven hunger strike in jail. I would have stayed on it longer, but I felt like I was getting to the point where my body would seriously weaken if I stayed on the hunger strike longer, and I thought I was going to have to go back on the street after I got out of jail, and I didn’t want to have to do that in a weakened condition. They took me from that jail to the mental hospital, though. But I honestly think I was hungrier losing weight for wrestling my sophmore year in high school. I fantasized about food constantly. When I walked through a grocery store I would go through so many fantasies about the food that was on the shelves. Actually, dehydrating to make weight weakened me more that cutting calories. If I had to dehydrate more than seven or eight pounds, something just left me, and I couldn’t perform on the mat.

When I lived with my sister and in the ninth grade( for the first time )we were very poor and I got down to 100 lbs or less. The shame of it is I had a job weekends and an income I could have bought food with but spent it all on drugs drugs drugs.

Tulsa, Oklahoma is like that. Every time you turn around someone is handing you a sandwich. Tulsa could be like Shangri La, except for the violent mentality of the people living on the street.

I forgot to eat when I was psychotic.

@anon4362788 I apologize, I didn’t mean to come off like that…honestly I didn’t know you didn’t have resources like I do.

I can’t remember how long ago… maybe like 9 months ago… I hadn’t been working for a few months and we were just barely scrapping by with Hubby’s income from work.

We didn’t have anything to eat, at one point. But, thankfully, a food pantry gave us some food!!

And then, right after this, Hubby got a significant pay raise!! So, we’ve been doing better since he got that raise.

I was really thankful for that food pantry, though. They helped us when we weren’t able to afford groceries.
