A pharmacy tech was pretty rude to me on the phone several months ago.
Then months later I got the wrong medicine in my antipsychotic refill. Like they legit screwed up. I had to go back and they were all sorry about it and gave me my correct antipsychotic.
I can’t get past the paranoia that she did it intentionally to try to kill me or at least hurt me. I know it was her. They should be thankful I didn’t report her to the authorities.
See below from Google:
“A pharmacist’s actions breach their duty to a patient, which can lead to injury or harm…
Dispensing errors: Giving the wrong medication, the wrong dosage, or an expired product
Failing to check for drug interactions: Not checking for potential interactions between medications
Falsifying records: Altering patient records
Diverting prescription drugs: Using prescription drugs for unauthorized purposes
Breaching confidentiality: Not maintaining patient confidentiality
Delaying prescriptions: Taking too long to fill a needed prescription
Providing incorrect information: Giving incorrect information about instructions for use, side effects, or drug interactions”
99.9% odds it’s accidental. Every employer right now is trying to do too much with too few employees and the employees are all overloaded and glitching. I have this bigtime at my current job. Don’t take human error personally, it’ll make you even more nuts.
It was most likely human error. But, since I know that won’t necessarily be reassuring, there is also this:
The pharmacy knows who filled your script. It will be logged in their records. When you reported the error, they would have looked into it and found who made the error. They will already be handling it behind the scenes. They likely have an official response policy and will send the person to additional training, remove them from handling meds for a bit, fire them, etc. You do not need to do anything else. The pharmacy will already be managing the next actions.
