Sadly, if she decides to come back in a month or two these forums will be gone with no hints on how to get to the new forum. I wonder how many people are in that situation or similar situations where they decided to take just a month or two or three or more off and will try to come back and have no way of finding the new forum. Any ideas or comments about people in that position @Bowens or @Ninjastar or @Moonbeam ? Will they just be out of luck?

I have wondered about that as well. As I understand it, this forum will be taken offline when it shuts down, so there will be no way for prior users of the forum to know that the forum has been permanently shut down.

Yeah, there’s lots of people who are gone for 6 months to a year who won’t find the new forum. This forum asks for an email address. Maybe send mass emails to everybody who has logged on in the last year and in it tell them this forum has shut down and give them the new forum location. Sz.Admin says the attendance has gone way down so if we sent everybody emails maybe we would only be sending out a thousand emails or several hundred. @SzAdmin is this feasible or too much work?

The mods wouldn’t be able to do it. We don’t see the email addresses attached to people’s accounts. But we might be able to send them a PM. And if they get email notifications for PMs here they would see a copy of it. I can check that. Good idea, thanks.

THe good news, if you can call it that, is the “no contact outside the forum” rule is almost universally ignored.
I mean, this has drawbacks, like potential harrassment, but it also might be a plus in this situation. People are connected all over the place on social media and those that make it there before this forum goes down will probably be able to inform most of those that dont.
Also, it now IS showing up on google if you search for schizophrenia discourse forum and the like.

Okay, after looking at the back end of the site, I decided I am going to wait until after xmas, then send out the PMs. That way, more people have a chance to see it and I don’t have to do quite so many.
