Did anyone's cognitive deficits reverse with age?

Did you cognitively recover after having no positives for a long time?

@angledangle A good question. For me, personally, I wouldn’t say so. Certainly not in a way that means practical, day to day, functioning has improved.

I would say no.
I believe that somehow my brain is adapting to the cognitive deficit.

The deficits are severe at times.

But, did your attention, focus, spatial memory improve somewhat after psychosis alleviated? Like 1 year, 2 years after your last psychotic episode?

My spatial orientation was bad during psychosis but immediately got better under treatment.
My short-term memory was also shot by psychosis and then went back to 80-90% of pre-illness levels.

I would say my cognition has remained stable with age, I’m 43, I was diagnosed at 26. Over the last 20 years I have been taking IQ tests online. Different tests give me different results. The range has been 117-152, but the vast majority are around 130. That 117 score I got was after hitting the bong, so I think marijuana affects my cognition. I don’t smoke it anymore though.

I’m currently in remission, with some breakthrough symptoms. I’ve always been weaker spatially compared to verbally. In terms of spatial IQ tests I’ve improved. My non-verbal IQ has gone from abt 75 to
Mean (μ): 121.681818181818
Median: 123
Mode: 130

I think that’s stemmed from having a less defeatist mindset . However I don’t think that’s translated to having better spatial ability in real life situations.

My cognition getting worse at my early twenties without medication.it was really horrible.after medication i start to think logically but i m still horrible at problem solving.i think my prefrontal lobe highly damaged due to disease.

LS! Recently I had a neuropsychological assessment. The neuropsychologist said: rarely do we see such a beautiful profile. She also welcomed me with the words: Good News!
My age is 63 and I do not have any cognitive deficits. Lucky me! I had schizophrenia all my life. But I am doing fine these days.
