So, many of us have developed diabetes while on APs.
This thread is to post treats and recipes for people with diabetes so we can treat ourselves sometimes without too much sugar or too much guilt.

hmmm…all i know is a quick sugar fix for low blood sugar is little cans, one only for pineapple juice an old diabetic woman we know had around…
Honestly I don’t eat treats anymore. So this thread is a good idea. I just don’t crave sugar. I will eat candy but only when my sugar is too low. I do like sugar free chocolate pudding mixed with sugar free cool whip and Greek yogurt.
Oooh - sugar free chocolate pudding is a great idea!
what about pimento cheese on celery is that allowed?
I get that every once in awhile. No sugar, but it still has carbs. So , maybe in moderation.
Honestly plain non fat Greek yogurt with a few frozen berries with some oats and a drizzle of honey is my go to evening snack. I only add a touch of honey if my sugar is moderately low so it will stay stable overnight. You can freeze them and they make low sugar high protein frozen treats.
My dad often times does sugar free pudding with sugar free cool whip.
Nuts are also a trick he’s found, though, admittedly he’s less fond of them nowadays.
Flavored rice cakes with a little natural peanut butter; low sugar. That’s what I do for a snack late at night.
Here’s the low carb snacks list.
I’d like to see more sugar free sweet treats though. Most of those are not sweet.
I forgot to mention. I buy cold brew coffee. I make my own flavored sugar free creamer with sugar free flavorings and sugar free whipped topping. So it’s a really nice iced coffee. It’s really really delish and it’s a sweet treat. I highly suggest making some.
I’ve tried some sugar free Reece’s cups, and they’re pretty good actually. My dad had to hide them from me lol.
My problem is that the sugar free candy doesn’t taste right because it’s got artificial sweetener. The candy with Splenda is okay.
Yeah my dad and I both have a gene that makes stevia taste bad and bitter, but there’s other sweeteners, too. My dad makes his own cocktail of a sugar free sweetener, combination of erythritol and alliouse. Not sure if I spelled the second one right but it starts off with an A. It’s really good and I use it to sweeten my herbal teas and sugar free hot chocolate. My dad experiments with food a lot because of all the food restrictions we’ve had. I used to be deathly allergic to wheat, dairy, and eggs, but now I’m just eggs. And he had a gluten intolerance and is diabetic, so he experimented.
The good thing is that they are coming up with better sugar sweeteners. Monks fruit is good.
