it is the deepfake porn that i am concerned about. Putting womens faces on pornographic images and videos. They are doing it to children’s images as well.
You should be. What happens when someone deep fakes the president “secretly” discussing their intent to launch a nuclear weapon at Russia? Just because the technology’s not too advanced now doesn’t mean that it never will be. This is a dangerously problematic technological development, and the worst part is that there’s really no good way to stop it.

It’s really just a slightly more advanced form of gossiping and traditional propaganda. We will adapt to it, learn to distrust videos and develop ways of authenticating them, and then it won’t be much more effective than than the methods we already have for making people believe in lies (such as the “advanced technology is scary” way of generating ad revenue).
They’re using it to create celebrity porn videos as well. I gotta say, they’re pretty good.
