Considering changing my name

I’ve been considering changing my name lately, but I know people would just think I’m crazy lol. But I feel like a completely different person than pre-schizo me…like I should honor that by changing my name. I probably never will get around to doing it but you never know. Thoughts?

You could always tell people to call you by a certain name but legally keep your old name. Kind of like Authors/actors who choose a stage/pen name. Though you should be prepared to explain why you want to make the change.

I changed my name socially once while still identifying as female and am in the process of changing it again now that I am in transition. The first change, while still female, was largely due to a lack of identification with the name given to me at birth, as well as a complete disconnect from who I was with that name for 20+ years.

I have changed my name about 3 times so far. Mainly did it by deed poll when I wasn’t well and I thought people were after me.

I have changed it back now though.

I would just declare the new name a “character” yours and start using it to those who don’t know you, and establish that identity as you. It’s not that hard to legally change it, it’s a lot like a tattoo, cost a lot to get, costs even more to get rid of.
