Coldweather fishing

got catfish this cold weather got them biting…anyone been fishing

I’d like to do some more fishing but have no car. No idea if they will let me on public transport with all the tackle never mind with fish on the return.

Also catfish bones are weird. Even as an agnostic hard not to be swayed by all the religious connotations on it.

I haven’t been fishing for months…I hope we can do some northern fishing soon though…

I live near the water… I fake fish. I cast out and drift around and let my mind wander. Or I cast off the pier and end up watching the sunset and the night stars. I never catch much, but it’s a nice way to quietly ponder.

The late season salmon run is going to start and every Thanksgiving my Dad and some of my Uncles go on a fishing trip. We have salmon instead of turkey.

In all these years… we’ve never caught any salmon worth keeping so we throw them back and go buy frozen at the market. I wish we could skip the middle step of standing in the rain not catching anything.

I used to fish as a kid, a while back. I am kind of against all hunting and fishing these days, I dont see the point in killing an animal that I am not going to end up eating anyway.
I know that there are a lot of people that find fishing relaxing - I am not one of them

Hell, there’s a lot of things we could do besides killing stuff if you’re not going to eat it. I mean we’d clean a catfish on the river at our campsite and Cajun spice it, wrap it in foil and cook it on an open fire. But I mean if you just do it to kill and not eat the fish that’s sort of stupid.

I love fishing but its been a long time, there are fisheries where you can catch your quota but I like the rivers better, I only took the biggest fish bc they eat all the others and the stocks are low here so that helps. Its so relaxing even if its just the canal I love being near the water as well.

@Wave, I admit I do like to fish… What very few fish I catch… I end up throwing back. But my sis is on your side…

Her way of protesting my fishing is to jump in and swim around the boat a lot. The more I think about it… it’s more about drifting around off shore… the silence of being out on the water…

No traffic horns, no bus noise. That is why I love just sitting out on my surf board. I’m not surfing off our little cove as much as just paddling around escaping the noise and city pace.

I also like fly fishing… but again… it more about hanging out on the river side and just listening to the water.
