“In a 2012 study, 20 genetic variants for intelligence were identified by the ENIGMA network, a consortium of scientists combining brain scans with genetic information to gain a better understanding of the brain. Since then, more genetic links to IQ have been discovered, including the KL gene—thought responsible for 3% of IQ variation in the general population. Cognitive ability however, from a genetic standpoint, has been harder to hunt down.”
“As a result of their efforts, Dr. Lencz and colleagues were able to identify 27 loci and 350 candidate genes for cognitive ability. Their results were published in the journal Cell Reports.”
