Going into Christmas week and I have only recieved only one Xmas card and that was from my mum. Reality check: I have no friends and am not popular.
When I was a kid I used to get like 20/30 cards and now at 42 years old I recieve only one. You get loads for x-mas as a kid but not much as an adult.
Also I have spent £100s on presents for family members and will not get much back. Im going to address this next year to try and get more cards from people and make Christmas less unfair on me.
My ideal Holiday break is getting to spend time with my wife and daughter in our home without having to deal with @#$%ing in-laws. There’s good food, good conversation, and fun playing games. I don’t worry about receiving gifts as I generally have the toys I want anyhow. I stopped sending cards years ago and don’t worry about receiving them - easier on the environment to not chop downs for cards.
I dont exspect toys or presents but would still like a handfull of cards at Christmas. Or is that to much to ask from people?
I bought Xmas cards last year to send this year, but I can’t afford to buy the stamps for them all. It sounds silly, but when you have a lot to buy,it adds up.
I know. Stamps have really gotten expensive.
I don’t care if I get cards or presents.
These days, probably. Xmas cards are becoming an Old People thing. Also, postage costs have gotten out of hand. $1.07 for individual stamps or $0.92 when purchased in bulk here in Canada. I’ve been sending out tasteless Xmas memes instead - that’s free. The $40 or so I would spend on cards was donated to the Food Bank where it will do more good.
I didn’t know that because I always use my dad’s stamps.
Well things have suddenly changed as my dad just phoned and hes going to take me out for a meal and to watch a movie for xmas. Mabye this is the start of Christmas and I might even get some more cards.
Im actually volunteering in my local foodbank this Tue wrapping presents.
RIGHT ON. I love hearing things like this.
we sent out Christmas cards…so glad…
I got one card. I sent out 6 cards to friends and relatives. It’s funny, they’ll get the cards and feel guilty and I get a lot of cards after Christmas. I have a lot of stamps and a several hundred cards given to me by charities years and years ago. My poor relatives are going to go to the pharmacy and spend $5 on a card. Lol.
I’m so happy for you!!! And I love that you’re helping out at the food bank
I don’t even decorate my house for Xmas. I haven’t gotten a Xmas card in years and I don’t worry about it.
Im so late to the party. We haven’t got a tree, haven’t decorated. I really want to though, and on Monday I have to get Gifts for a ton of people. I am actually thinking of giving out OOAK paintings I know my fam will love that so I’ll be getting like 20 canvases but smaller not huge small enough that I can mail them out. I dont get many presents either, last year my cousin sent me a card for my birthday so I want to send her and her fam something. This is gonna be difficult, maybe a painting for each individual household…hmmm. Or smaller individual ones for everyone hehe.
I feel better about x-mas my m8 just bought me a present round, looks like I do have friends.
Lack of presents or cards doesn’t mean lack of friends. Not everyone has the extra money to do all that in this economy.
If you base what your friends think of you based on whether or not they give you things, you have a lot bigger issue than gifts.
Xmas cards cost pence and Im sat in my home dissapointed becauce I havnt received any. I normally do; since X-mas 1980 but I know why.
I was never one to send Xmas cards. Has nothing to do with me not loving my family/friends. I just don’t send cards. Could be I’m too lazy. Idk.
