Changing meds progress

I’m glad Seroquel is working for you. It wasn’t so good when I took it .

@Mr_Hope I hope the change you want works out for you. I do not take a benzo anymore at my dr’s orders and take gabapentin instead for my anxiety disorder. Gabapentin I do find helpful without making me tired (which is a bonus). Hopefully it will help you feel relaxed and thus able to sleep if your dr prescribes it for you for sleep. Best wishes to you!!

How are you holding on the 5mg did you notice a difference going back up. Did sleep improve?

I wen’t to 7.5mg to get some quick sleep relief. I’ve slept ok most days since the change. I think I will try 5mg zyprexa tonight and add on some passion flower. It might not do anything, but worth a try.

I had penciled my self in to go down by 0.7mg every four weeks. My sleep hadn’t been amazing but I felt I was lacking activation. Looking at that dosage schedule it would take me more then a year and a half to completely come off. I decided to reduce by 1mg from ~15 to ~14mg. I figured that I would get the most resistance and a sticking point as I started to go below 10mg and that in actuality it would take me longer the 2 years so thought I would take a leap with the lowering to push out some progress on the hyperbolic dose response curve. There are a few other variables at play but I upped my CBD and melatonin. I can tell you that even lowering by 1mg where I’m at right now is a lot for me and I haven’t been sleeping the best.

That’s the problem with coming off the medication not only do you get dopamine hypersensitivity. You also lose sleep. Sleep is the first thing to go before you re-enter psychosis so there is only so much you can lose before you start to become dysfunctional and an added stress becomes a variable towards relapse.

Yeah, sleep is definitly the main issue. I don’t know exactly what went wrong during my taper, but I suspect the seroquel isn’t working the way it’s supposed to. I theorise it may actually have worked negative on sleep. After long term use of zyprexa the brain is dysfunctional, and substances are not working as expected, I see this when using supplements as well.

There is a slim chance my brain might recover further after switching from generic to original zyprexa, but this process could take months or even years.

Anyway. I have to conserve my strenght again, so will probably stay on 7.5mg zyprexa for a while, then try again later when I also get a sleep aid from my doctor.

I doubt it would have worked negative on sleep. More like it didn’t work because it wasn’t as strong as olz.

Long term use of olz could do strange things however most supplements really don’t work. Also most meds won’t work for every single person, you can see this from how many medications people have to try

personally I disagree with anyone who says that a sudden brand of antipsychotics is harder to get off than another drug. I think that it’s the duration of usage of the antipsychotic. That’s my personally experience cause I quit 600 mg Clozapine in 1 day after half a year of usage. I quit 16 mg of Risperdone in a time span of 4 days after 1 year of usage as well as 30 mg Zyprexa.
But getting off 160 mg Geodon took me over a year after having used that drug for 20 years.

Have you considered a sleep study at a sleep clinic and considered seeing a sleep specialist dr @Mr_Hope ? They are specifically trained to help with sleep problems of all sorts. It couldn’t hurt.

My GP says sleepcenters are mostly about sleep hygiene over here.

No, I just have to accept the zyprexa has done this to me. There is no easy way to fix it.

Mister hope I really understand the struggle to come to terms with that there maybe are no alternatives to the treatment you are on now. Because I try and try to get below 800 mg of qutiapine.
You are on a low dose of meds and that makes a switch much harder.
