Cannabis use and cognitive function in first episode psychosis: differential effect of heavy use

CONCLUSIONS: Heavy cannabis consumption seems to impair verbal memory in first psychotic episode patients. Heavy users also perform worse than medium users in other neurocognitive tasks. Based on the results and the available evidence, a dose-related effect of cannabis consumption is suggested.

That’s interesting. I was never a heavy user but I always assumed using cannabis had many detrimental effects on my cognition, but this study says medium users were only worse on arithmetic tasks… but it is possible that medium cannabis use has a detrimental effect on most areas but that the users baseline levels are higher so they even each other out… I feel my mind is clearer now that I barely smoke any weed.
