Can Clozapine replace my sleeping pill?

Hey folks, so I’ve done some blood work and my doctor is about to put me on Clozapine. I don’t know if I will need my zopiclone (sleeping tablet) or not. I have severe insomnia and cannot sleep without my zopiclone.

So my worry is will Clozapine aid my insomnia and give me better sleep, or should I consult my doctor to make sure he keeps my insomnia medicine along Clozapine.

Thanks folks.

Clozapine knocks me out to sleep.

But every person is different.

For me it works better than sleeping tablets.

Happy cake day btw @Genesis !

I’m on a pretty low dose of clozapine and I sleep about 10 hours a day.

Thank you @Ghosts and @WhiteRaven This gives me hope since insomnia has been an issue lately and sleeping without zopiclon tablet is quite impossible. I hope these new meds will work.

Clozapine knocked me out slept 12 hours a night.

Do you folks also get restless legs (akathisia) from taking Clozapine? Or restlessness in legs is not an issue and you aren’t experiencing it. @TheFountainPen @Natron @WhiteRaven @Ghosts

I’ve never experienced any kind of movement disorders with clozapine.

Clozapine is the only antipsychotics with neglecteble movement disorders because that it has another receptorbinding profile than other antipsychotics.
