Breakthrough infection

I was on antibiotics for 6 straight months due to chronic bladder infections that caused me to get precancerous tissue in my bladder. After 6 months of antibiotics they did another test and I still had an infection! :open_mouth: so they switched my antibiotic. I’ve been taking the new one for 2 months and guess what?! I have another breakthrough infection. So frustrating!

Oh god that’s terrible. They need to do IV antibiotics or something everyday until you’re well. You can’t go on like that. You must be so uncomfortable. I hope they get it dealt with right away.

That is sooo awful!! I ache for you!!

They are having me take clindamycin capsules 4 times a day for 7 days. Then I see the urologist again. I’ve had urinary pain for so long I’m actually used to it.

I’m so sorry. I hope it works for you. It is no fun. Be sure once you are off, to eat yogurt with probiotics. They will help getting the good bacteria into your gut.

I’m already on probiotics, I have been for 8 months.

Please be careful with clindomycin. It isn’t a common side effect, but it gave me suicidal ideation.

I hope the clindomyosin tackles the infection. Did they have you on augmentin. Maybe the penicillin isn’t working for you. There are other antibiotics w/o penicillin. I had to take augmentin after I accidentally took amoxicillin for 3 months, I kept refilling it since it said there were refills. I didn’t know. Then another time my wisdom tooth infection was so bad because I was smoking a hookah and I got prescribed clindomyosin. It messed up my stomach.

How awful for you to endure.

It can be so painful and constant discomfort and need to urinate.

Good that you are seeing a urologist and getting professional help.

I hope you will have a quick recovery and that it will leave you in peace from it.

Take great care of yourself!

Oh… You might need really strong antibiotics in an IV, but I’m not a doctor. Something to clear it up right away

My dr sent the sample to the lab today. They said I’ll find out Tuesday if I need better than Clindamycin capsules

I’m still in pain, but I’ve only been on the Clindomycin for a day. I really hope it gets rid of my infection.

Do they understand how this is happening ?

Previous drs kept not properly treating my infections. It went on so long the tissue in my bladder changed and is now precancerous from severe, chronic infection. I took 8 months of antibiotics - 6 months of one and 2 months of another - and just tested positive for infection. It’s so frustrating
