I really hate seeing @shutterbug@Voithos leaving the forum and I am going to say goodbye regardless of the rules.
I know the goodbye thread was locked for a reason but too bad.
@mrsquirrel@velociraptor@shutterbug@pixel@Voithos has been here for a very long time. Much longer than me and has been a staple here for the entire time I have been here.
We have grown apart more recently but I consider him to have been one of my best online friends and a very loyal guy who thinks for himself. And funny as hell, to boot.
I have not been on the forum as much lately, but honestly, this news almost seems like an end of an era and makes me sad.
I could not help but post and give my thoughts on it.
I know the reason there are not supposed to be goodbye threads….its because people sometimes use them for drama and are back a week later.
I do not believe this will be the case with @shutterbug . I know hes not doing it for attention, because thats not who he is, and unless he has a change of heart, he will likely be leaving for good.
So goodbye to a staple of the forum who is very unique and deserves some kudos for all the work hes done here and all the people he has helped over the years.
Yeah Im gutted to hear Shutterbug is backing away. I love his contributions, and I get his humour and what he means. Its never offensive, and always makes me chuckle.
I’m sad to see him leave, but I’m also glad for him. He’s on a journey of recovery and I wish him the best. He’s pillar of what can be achieved, and I always aspired to take his advice and maybe one day I’ll be able to keep a job and have a family. He also gave solid recovery advice for those struggling with addiction.
Forum won’t be the same without shutterbug, but I hope he finds the “more okay” he was talking about.
I have complete dignity for him. And how he’s dealt with his life and his circumstances. I am so happy for him to have other things to focus on now which he loves. His purpose for being on this forum was successful to me. A great example of recovery. I mean my purpose here is for stability and recovery. And none of it is wasted time.
gonna miss seeing @shutterbug here too. i know if he chose to leave it has been thought through and seeing the way he has maintained control over his situations to live and follow through to create the life he wants to live, its still inspiring.
Thank you for your support and guidance over the better part of nearly 10 years–you’ve been a true inspiration.
That said, you can’t leave. It’s in the contract: p.4, section 2, subsection (a), clause (i), paragraph (3): @shutterbug cannot leave. The only exception is if The Great Potato and The Flying Spaghetti Monster agree to such action. Unfortunately, Spaghetti voted yes, but Potato voted no.
Seriously, if your participation on this website is having more of a negative impact on your life than positive, or if you simply don’t need it anymore, then of course do what’s best for you.
Finally, let’s not say permanent. If you find that your cheese is sliding off of your cracker, post it here. No shame in that.
I honestly wondered why he was hanging around this for him so long. I wonder why I’m hanging around this form for so long. I’m starting to see why he was around this form for so long. It’s a fun safe place for me personally as a schizophrenic. I hope to one day maybe graduate from this forum. Recovered having the rest of my life to enjoy. I mean this forum serves a purpose for me. But ultimately I wish I could get to a point where I no longer need it and it served its purpose. And go on with my life like I always wanted to.
