Jeremiah ate a lot of dirt (eating blueberries from the ground) and Maria was a great help! So fun! Nom nom nom.
sounds like fun
I LOVE morning hikes and berry picking while listening to the birds and watching the sun rise…
what a good haul of berries… its that going to be pie or muffins or pancakes?
Well, 50 percent will go to our throats, the rest in cobbler and smoothies!
There are SO many things to do with berries… Most versatile food ever.
Do you have wild bushes near you… or are you growing them?
There is a blueberry picking farm down the road.
lucky…
I keep debating whether to plant berry vines… one the one hand… there are lot of wild vines in the parks… and they can take over a garden quickly if not really tended aggressively. Even trellising… berry vines are pretty strong and can take down a fence.
But on the other… the thought of just walking out the door and picking some berries…
I guess it depends how much more energy and effort I want to put into the garden.
Blueberries grow on bushes!
That part I do know… here it’s lots of blackberries
our region is very damp… lots of rain… doesn’t bode well for blueberries or strawberries. Lots of mildew…
The mildew is also hard on roses and other soft crops.
As, I’m sorry. Our house is surrounded by muscadines and figs.
Oh man… you get figs as well…
I usually LOVE my rain city…
Until I see how many things are harder to grow here… Melons are hard to grow here too…
We have a lot of water… not enough sun.
Sounds like fun!
It was. My friend took a picture of dirt covered jeremiah, hopefully I can post it later.
I used to love to go blueberry picking. They would encourage you to eat all you wanted for free
But if you took any home with you they charged a dollar a pound
At the place I go to it’s the same, but, you pay by the gallon.
i’ve been strawberry picking with the my grandmother when i was a kid, but never blueberry picking. But i have bought a lot of blue berries before for my lizards.
Was always mulberries for us growing up. The juice leaves a lovely red stain all over the skin. Fond memories of feeding some to one my grandparents neighbours goat. No idea how long that took to get out of his lovely white beard.
Very cute guy… About 3 years old? Not a care in the world…
I sure wish I could remember being that young.
He just turned1. He’s big.
