Benzos and postural hypotension?

I’m suffering from a side effect called postural hypotension. I’m thinking if my benzo is causing it or if it’s my antipsychotic.

My benzo is called clobazam and my antipsychotic is clozapine. My pdoc told me it’s clozapine. So he reduced clozapine from 275mg to 200mg but my postural hypotension is still there.

So if you have hypotension, does it affect you badly? I have it too by the way…

Not that much, just dizziness when I stand up

I have dizziness only when I wake up for a few minutes that’s all

Stand up slowly, make yourself cough if you get dizzy. Has it caused you to pass out yet?

@clinic Are there meds for hypotension? IDK just asking…

It made me blind for 2-4 secs. My vision was just white, there was nothing but whiteness.

Yeah, be careful with that. If you get that again, force yourself to cough. I promise it helps.

But to answer your question, benzos can absolutely cause this. Do you notice if it gets better or worse after taking a dose? Do you take it regularly or just as needed?

Yes I take it regularly for seizures caused by my clozapine

Well damn. Probably not safe to stop taking it to see which it is then!

Is it a side effect you can live with? Just adjust how you get up, don’t bend over quickly, etc.

There is one med I know which blocks sodium from going out of your body. Basically the more sodium u take, the better your hypotension
