I’m not much of a joe Rogan fan but I agree that being too materialistic is no good.
A few nice things in life is good though
I’m no Joe Rogan fan either. I just like what the science behind the video says. That the pursuit of material things will leave you hollow. And what we remember is our relationship’s or something like that.
Things can bring a kind of delight and enjoyment, but not complete happiness. This can only come from God. We can also kind of store up more happiness for ourselves later by choosing to live with less in this life. It makes us stronger and we’ll reap the benefits of those investments indefinitely. Its not good to torment ourselves beyond our strength though… IMO we have to hold on to hold on to one without letting go of the other. Advancing to asceticism, while being humble and recognizing our personal level of dependence on material things and enjoying those things thankfully with a goal to become less dependent on them.
My mom insists on spoiling me so…
