Around twenty years ago I was into poetry

I wrote some poetry during my college years. I wish I still had what I wrote. I had a binder I kept my poems in, but that binder was lost years ago. I remember my third year of college I submitted three poems for a creative writing contest. Two of the poems were centered around childhood sexual abuse/rapes. I can’t believe I submitted such personal poems to a writing contest. Oh well, I was manic and a bit psychotic. Poetry was partly a way for me to vent my emotions over some of my traumas.

I remember at my apartment in Philly, the year I attended med school, I kept two books of poetry in my bathroom, to read on the toilet. One was the poetry of my favorite poet, Dylan Thomas. The other was the works of my second favorite poet, Emily Dickinson.

It would be nice if I could get back into writing that stuff again, but idk. I suppose one of these days I could sit down with pen and paper and see if I find inspiration to knock out a rough draft. I just never feel that creative spark anymore.

Who here likes to write poetry? Do you have a favorite poet?

I like to write poetry but haven’t written much lately. I like Jack Frost.

Haven’t read much foreign poetry, except for some French authors and Shakespeare.
We have a host of good poets in my language too. But they don’t enjoy worldwide acclaim.

Yea. Poetry is a beautiful thing. It would be nice to have as a talent.

If you ever wake up at three a.m. get out the paper and pen.

My voices tell me to write poetry but I’m interested in prose right now, it seems to be a poet one needs love, and I am lacking in it especially the romantic type.

My favorite poet is John Keats.
