Money is tight. I need to buy a new cell phone and a gallon of pesticide. I want to spend as little money as possible. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap cell phone. All I want from a cell phone is just to call people when I need to. I can get the rest of what I want from my desktop computer.

I bought a cheap iPhone 5 for 50$ in perfect new like condition a year ago. From Mercari.com. I was worried but it was perfect. I got other electronics from EBay safely too. I think both places has a guarantee.

OnePlus and Xiaomi are very cheap, but surprisingly good for their price range.

My mom got a refurbished pixel 2 from her carrier. It’s no longer supported with the latest updates for Android, but she still uses it and never had a problem.

I have a Pixel 2 that I found on the street in 2019. It doesn’t receive updates anymore but it has Android 11 and still works great and fast.

I got a refurbished samsung from amazon. The first one was buggy and I sent it back. The second one worked out just fine. It’s a risk, but as long as you buy it from someplace with a decent return/exchange policy, it can work out and save you some money.

Both mine and my wife’s phones are previously owned. They came with no cosmetic blemishes at all and full warranty. A customer bought them and didn’t like them, traded them back for something else. They were discounted from the original price by more than 50%. We’re happy with them.

@aziz it was in great shape. I think it was not over used. It came in an otter case for it worth $50 itself. I really think i got lucky from someone who took care of it.
Also I got a perfect used Xbox x series x from EBay, perfectly repackaged running amazingly.
So I do like getting electronics online for the better price. Oh i got an iPad Pro on mercari. Also Perfect in box too… Wait for the prices to come down as they can’t sell it on mercari sometimes. Or make an offer lower.

Refurbished phones from legit stores are great, I prefer stores where you can see the particular phone in the display case and get info on its condition.
In Denmark, there’s a store called BlueCity in most major cities, for an example.
Only “bad” experience I’ve had was that a refurbished iphone I bought at that store needed a new battery after a couple years.
